MTN Mobile money 5 million + users will because of the Visa technology be enabled to send funds to each other, send and receive international remittances, make purchases at merchants or online where Visa is accepted or withdraw funds at a Visa ATM.

MTN will make the new product to customers in Nigeria and Uganda during the pilot phase.

What is YCD ?

Young Creative and Digital night ( created to stimulate the creative scene in Abidjan, consists of a formal and and informal time slots.
A RSVP only event , actors,models,photographers,marketers,web designers,painters,journalists,bloggers ,musicians and dancers are invited to be active participants during this 4 hours meeting.

Presentations: 7 minutes are given to the speakers to present their project or work and share some tips for success.Some of the presentations could be of others work from the continent that isn’t necessarily linked to the presenter, but just something the presenter wants to share as something that’s achievable here.

Activities:Based on the the theme of the night ,several creatives are selected to lead activities,exhibitions or workshops during the rest of the evening where everyone is forced to become more than a spectator.

Do not imitate but Initiate. Understand why you should buy a Basquiat’s painting like Swizz Beatz (influencer) did when he bought his first original Basquiat painting at age 25. He now owns 6 of em’. He recently bought a 1.5 Million Ernie Barnes painting. Investing your money in a Picaso, to only show your friends you have good taste is just pure MADNESS. A doctor, lawyer, Businessman in Africa should add some art from the hottest and upcoming local artist, to his private collection. That’s one way of investing in a culture.

Murambi, the book of bones.

Africaincorp Media Network : Your work is usually caracterized by an universe marked by quasi permanent tension ,nerver cracking suspense.Where do you channel from such stories ?

Boubacar Boris Diop :My main source of inspiration is everyday life as I see happening around me ,at work,in my neighborhood,in my city ,at my very own home. I see things ( sometime unseen by others), I hear things,chatter,someone talking on the phone in a public place.I read up the titles of the newspapers, I listen to my comrades talk about politics. All of these things help create characters,situations,plots,a story.

AMN : We can see two different movements in African litterature amid the language barrier.What do you think of English Speaking African litterature ? Who are some the writers you admire ?

BBD: I have a good mastery of the English language thus enabling me to read English speaking African litterature as I wanted to know how they view the world.It is a very powerful and authentic litterature I must say .My two favorites are Ayi Kwei Armah and Chinua Achebe

AMN: What would be some of the recommandations you would make to the new wave of African writers ?
BBD: The first advice I would give an up and coming writer is not to listen to any advice.Be yourself, do you ,you must believe in your inner capacities and your talent. Do not be obsessed by the desire to succeed. One more thing I would say is that always revisit your classics,wether African,American,Russian,French,never ever cut yourself from the writing of the past masters.
AMN: What do you think of the internet and the way it is changing the book publishing and distribution business ?Do you see it as a plus for the  African book publishing industry ?

BBD:The numerisation of the book and the new interaction opportunities it creates for the reader are things worth observing,yet I believe that the old fashion way of producing,distributing and reading books is has some long days ahead of it. There is someting physiscal,social and intimate about holding a phsysical copy of a book,or going to the library or the book store to purchase it.There was a recent meeting at Monza in Italy where 200 specialists from the book publishing industry studied the question and they came to the same conclusion.

AMN: A short list of writers you recommand
BBD:  Ayi Kwei Armah (L’âge d’or n’est pas pour demain andt The healers ), Aimé Césaire ,Chinua Achebe ( All Things Fall Apart ),Anna Karénine de Tolstoï and  Salinger.
