Zap users in Kenya can now receive International money transfers directly on their mobile phones. The sender of the funds does this directly from their bank account to the Zap user in Kenya who is subscribed to the service.
The question is can the Zap user forward the money receive to his bank account ?
What we have coming is the morphing of the ecosystem that was this multi-billion shilling International remittances industry which has been largely dominated by Western Union.
What does it mean to E-commercant in Kenya ? Well they should be able now to sell their online products and services against payment via this secure and direct system. So much for Paypal not allowing African E-retailer into the global game of commerce over the internet.
