Safaricom launched M-pesa in some 36 months ago and the service has been a hit from the start,averaging 10,000 daily new users.The service has today over 6 million users and claims capital movement of over SH 152 Billion exchanged between users of the system.
The service allows Kenyan active economic agentsĀ to transfer money fast, safely and affordably using their mobile phone. Through M-PESA, a customer can send money to another mobile phone user, withdraw cash, buy airtime for themselves or another prepaid subscriber, pay bills and make loan repayments.
